Asymmetrical flared skirt and front pocket. Length 75cm

This asymmetric skirt has a front pocket and is made with an ancient fabric called bogolan. This fabric, produced in Mali, is known for its mud dyeing technique and unique patterns.

The asymmetry of the skirt, together with the bogolan fabric, is an example of how difference enriches us and allows us to experience fashion in different and unique ways.

Each person is unique and unrepeatable, just like these skirts! The production of bogolan fabric involves weaving, dyeing and printing. The process includes a complex dyeing technique with medicinal plants, which is why bogolan has been used to help women give birth and heal different types of wounds.

The dyeing and printing process is part of the women's ancestral knowledge, which represented an internal and alternative form of communication between them. Each cloth was unique, and women considered every element in a cloth's composition to have healing properties.
